VQA Niagara Peninsula
This is a most unusual Gamay from an obsessionally perfectionist, tiny winery on the Niagara peninsula. At 14% alcohol and given a fair amount of new oak, this is not a Beaujolais style wine. It is medium bodied with a solid core of clean red fruit. Married with this is a herbal/spicy note we couldn't quite place, something like tarragon or Thai basil. Beautifully balanced and finishes very long indeed. A lovely, if atypical. example of what Niagara can produce.
